PESHAWAR: Unknown suspected militants on Monday blew up a 500 kv Tarbela Sheikh Mohammadi transmission line in the Badbher area situated on the outskirts of Peshawar.

In charge Inqalab checkpost, Fazle Sher Khan told that the suspected militants had planted explosives on the tower and blew it up late night, however, no loss of life was reported.

National Transmission And Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) said that five towers were destroyed in the area, including three towers of Sheikh Muhammdi transmission line which created a short fall of 150 megawatts to the national grid.

The company said that alternate means of transmission of electricity are being used to compensate the loss to the affected areas.
