Nawaz to leave for Iran on May 11

ISLAMABAD: Amid rapid geo-political developments taking place in the region, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to embark on a visit to Iran.

"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will pay a two-day official visit to Iran from 11th to 12th of the current month," a diplomatic source told dawn.com

Diplomatic sources added that during the two-day official visit, PM Nawaz would hold official talks with Iranian president Hasan Rouhani at the President's office on May 11.

Bilateral relations, the regional political situation and various protocols would come under discussion, sources said.

Prime Minister Nawaz is also expected to pay a call on Iranian grand spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamenei on May 12.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir and Adviser to the PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz are also expected to accompany the premier on his visit.

Sources said both sides are expected to discuss the Pak-Iran gas pipeline during official level talks.

Furthermore, the situation in Syria, Afghanistan and Middle East would also be discussed between the Pakistani and Iranian leadership.

good job -Pakistani PM should try his best to play a positive role tobe a bridge between GGC countries and Iran -we all are muslim brothers and should be to gether against any outsider aggression. PM can play a vital role to normalize rellatonship between KSA and Iran. Good job--wish you all the best PM

What a busy schedule! Visiting all these foreign countries at our expense and achieving absolutely nothing! Other foreign leaders cancel their trips to attend to domestic problems - our leader continues with his vacation plans. Is there anybody in Pakistan who is genuinely concerned about our country and would try his/her utmost to improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens, instead of just worrying about themselves?

Stop these pleasure trips at the cost of tax payer mony. people are suffering a lot due to short of electricity & govt is busy in enjoying the trips one after another. You have been elected to work for the benefit of people not looting the national wealth otherwise masses will kick you out if do not do anything for the nation. Do not think that you have controlled the army & noe you have no fear for any coup but remember that Masses power no body can face.

It seems that comments given are unreasonable and without understanding. these are not pleasure trips, but rather political and business orientated. Mr Sharif is trying to change perception of Pakistan and also trying various countries to invest in Pakistan. Every visit has been to enhance Pakistani exports and also bring investors to Pakistan. These trips are not for pleasure, but rather business. Pakistanis need to give time to this government, which is doing all its best.

I am not sure if has spend half of his ruling days in Pakistan. Relationship with neighbors is necessary but this PM always enjoying a prestigious life of our poor people taxes. Also he is trying to destabilize our country as well army. The GO game was all with his approval.

The country has been in turmoil since his election, and Nawaz Sharif has spent most of this time abroad wasting Pakistan's precious foreign reserves. When not looting the exchequer directly, he does it with his unnecessary trips. It seems a good way to avoid load shedding, while most of the populace is suffering in scorching heat. Behooving It will be, if he is not allowed back into the country.

The home development is that PTI and PAT will bring a rally on May 11 to register their protest, what Imran Khan chief PTI said that a massive rigging responsible for bringing PML N in power was done in the last election. How ever the geo-political developments taking place in the region attracted our PM to embark on a visit to Iran on the same day i.e May 11 being a two day official visit to have discussions on various business and strategic issues. What a timing to discard the protest rally.

May be something like RCD will serve Pakistan's interest more than when it was conceived. It is good to have positive and progressive relationship with all neighbours but India is unable to digest the importance that America accorded it after 9/11, but if Pakistan, China and Iran play their cards correctly and work together then they can play and important international role.
