LAHORE: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan-Noorani has split again as two factions of the party formed a separate group after differences with party president Dr Abul Khair Zubair and secretary-general Pir Mahfooz Mashahadi over policy matters.

A joint meeting of the elders of former JUP-Niazi and Nifaz-i-Shariat factions which had merged themselves into the JUP-N only a month ago, with Pir Masoom Naqvi in the chair on Wednesday decided to part their ways again.

The two groups selected Mr Naqvi as their chief.
