MARDAN: The district administration on Tuesday set up a four member committee comprising assistant

commissioner, duty magistrate, DHO and account officer of the deputy commissioner for purchasing medicines and carrying out fumigation across the district to prevent dengue.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Amir Latif. Mr Latif told the participants that it was responsibility of every citizen to come forward and perform their role in preventing dengue.

He directed to launch cleanliness drives at union council level, and to hold programmes and walks for creating awareness among masses about dengue.

The meeting also decided to set up separate wards for dengue patients in Ganjay hospital Takhtbai, Toru hospital and Katlang hospital so that the patients of adjacent areas got treatment near their doorsteps.

The deputy commissioner instructed district education officer to organise awareness programmes at the morning assemblies of schools regarding dengue prevention.

BAN ON TEACHERS: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mardan, has banned 36 schoolteachers from performing examinations duty over negligence in duty during the last matriculation exams.

A press released issued by the controller of examinations here the other day said that the education board had received several complaints against these teachers for not performing their exams duties accordingly.

The press release quoted the controller of examinations as saying that the action was taken after conducting a probe against 36 teachers hailing from Mardan, Swabi and Nowshehra districts.
