KHANPUR: At least six children were injured on Thursday when a school bus they were travelling in plunged into a trench in Khanpur, DawnNews reported.

The school van was carrying over 20 children when it lost control and fell in a trench following a flat tyre, rescue sources said.

The accident that took place in the Sarbarot area of Khanpur left six children wounded, five of whom were in critical condition. Police personnel and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident and started relief work, shifting the victims to a nearby hospital.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
