RAWALPINDI: Different organisations in the garrison city on Saturday arranged functions to highlight the importance of Women’s Day and create awareness of the rights of women.

Punjab Social Welfare department arranged a function at Punjab Industrial Home known as Sanatzar at Shamsabad.

Addressing on the occasion, MNA Tahira Aurangzeb said that there was a dire need to create awareness of the rights of women.

“The Sanatzar institution of the provincial government is playing its role in making women financially empower so they can work and don’t rely on men,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) in collaboration with “Sukhanwar” arranged a mehfil-e-mushaira for women in connection with the day.

MNA Tahira Aurangzeb was chief guest on the occasion. Renowned poets Farkhanda Shamim and Farheen Chaudhry were guests of honor and Javeria Ambreen anchored the mehfil-e-mushaira.
