QUETTA: Three Frontier Corps personnel were killed and 10 others injured in a bomb blast in Surab area of Kalat district, some 230km southeast of here, on Saturday.

Officials said an FC convoy was passing through the area when one vehicle was hit by the roadside bomb.

“We have lost three soldiers in the bomb attack,” FC spokesperson Khan Wasey said.

A police official said the explosive device had been placed on the main Quetta-Karachi highway and detonated by remote control.

The FC men killed were identified as Aziz, Zaman and Liaquat.

The injured were taken to the Combined Military Hospital.

Sources said two vehicles of the FC were destroyed in the bomb attack.

After the incident, security personnel launched a search operation in the mountainous area of Surab.
