Extortionists bigger threat to Karachi than Taliban: DG Rangers

KARACHI: DG Rangers Doctor Rizwan said on Friday that threat posed to Karachi from the Taliban was not as serious as the threat from land grabbers and extortionists, DawnNews reported.

He added that a list of target killers belonging to the political parties has been completed.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ personnel conducted targeted operations in Federal B area, Garden, Usmanabad, Ranchor lines and several other areas of Karachi and detained over 50 suspects.

The personnel of the paramilitary force also claimed to have recovered a pistol, shotguns and three SMGs from two of the arrested suspects.

Moreover, two people were killed and one wounded in a firing incident near North Nazimabad’s Gol Market.

The victims were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

In separate incidents, a woman was killed by gunshots near Gulshan e Iqbal’s Nipa chowrangi whereas one person was killed by firing in Karachi’s Shershah scrap market.
