PESHAWAR: Member of the Taliban mediating committee, Professor Ibrahim Khan, said on Tuesday that talks were still favourable despite the war that had erupted from the government and Taliban's side, DawnNews reported.

The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) leader said attempts were underway to resume the dialogue process which had entered a deadlock and informal talks were being held with the members of the government committee in this regard.

He further said that there was a possibility of a meeting between the two negotiating teams in the next few days.

Professor Khan also said that no stance of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had come forward as yet regarding the issue of an operation.

Earlier, Professor Ibrahim had said: “I don't rule out the possibility of resumption of talks at any stage.”

”We will keep appealing to both the government and the Taliban to stop following the path of violence and resume the stalled dialogue.”

Moreover, Rahimullah Yousufzai, a member of the government mediating team, said the process could resume if the Taliban agreed to a ceasefire without preconditions and explain the deaths of the abducted soldiers.

What kind of professor is this guy? Surely I don't believe he is a professor of science. I think he is a professor of Art. The art of killing innocent souls without their knowledge. I think, we need to do a background check. I'm sure we will find he's true identity.

Prof. Ibrahim needs to choose his words clarify. It is not the Government of Pakistan who has resorted to violence. It is the TTP. As for the Government, they have a constitutional responsibility to protect their citizens and if that means using military, then it should be deployed. TTP is not an institution to whom the GoP gives concessions and bows down to their demands. If they want their "valid" concerns addressed, then they should surrender "unconditionally" and submit to the laws of Pakistan.

Ibrahim displays the ignorance of the Taliban. War is an activity conducted by uniformed lawful militaries. Taleban are not a uniformed lawful military on the contrary they are a group of criminals acting in concert, a criminal enterprise. Non domestic or international law recognizes the Taleban as anything other than criminal offenders or terrorists. This is not a war, this is a law enforcement action taken to bring murderous serial killers to justice. Taleban claims of religious excuse for their criminal acts are the rantings of mentally ill persons which cannot be tolerated by law, otherwise every murderer would claim the defense of religion. No religion, even that of idol-worshippers, allows the defense of religion to murder.

War was NOT begun by both sides. Pakistani Armed Forces did not bomb mosques, markets and schools in bomb vests? Pakistani Armed Forces did not cut heads off? I will not write what I feel right now about JI and this man as it will not be appropriate. We support our Jawans in the armed forces 1000%.

Taliban is 1000% a wrong name they gare fasadis no talks could succeed with them as they didn't accept Pakistan. their main aim is to destroy pak to ashes how could they accept a peaceful pak. Kill them all bt do sumthng to bring tribal areas in main national stream......give them rights of a common pakistani.....

Wrong -- WAR was NOT started by the government -- WAR was STARTED by the Taliban when they beheaded 23 FC men -- I won't let you forget that Professor sahib -- you have a convenient memory and a skewed balance in favor of Taliban that puts the criminals at par with the the government. That is unfair.
