SARGODHA: The Punjab government has sought a report by Jan 6 from the committee it formed on detaching Mianwali and Bhakkar districts from Sargodha division and attaching Mandi Bahauddin with it.

It is further learnt that despite the opposition of people of Mianwali, Bhakkar is being made the divisional headquarters of the proposed Thal division, comprising tehsil Noorpur Thal from district Khushab, Layyah, Bhakkar and Mianwali.

Syed Tayyab Sherazi, president of Sargodha District Bar Association, termed the move a plot to damage the struggle of lawyers of Sargodha division for setting up a high court bench. He said the parliamentarians from Sargodha would only protect their interests as they also remained silent when Faisalabad and Jhang districts were severed from Sargodha division and they would not oppose the new plan also.

It is learnt that the people of Noorpur Thal are not willing to be attached to Thal division as MPA Waris Kaloo has expressed his resentment against the move while the Shadi Khel brothers are also not supporting setting up of Thal divisional headquarters at Bhakkar.

After the proposed plan, the lawyers of Bhakkar are not supporting the demand for a high court bench at Sargodha while lawyers of Sargodha, Khushab and Mianwali had been observing strikes over the issue since long.
