KARACHI, July 9: The Library and Information Science department of the University of Karachi will be celebrating its golden jubilee in August this year. This was announced by the chairperson of the department, Prof Malahat Kaleem Sherwani, on Saturday.

She pointed out that the department was established in August 1956 and since then had awarded masters’ degree to about 3,000 students.

Prof Sherwani said that the golden jubilee of the department would be marked from August 10 to 12. Unveiling the main features of the celebrations, she said that the department would organise a three-day book fair and talk shows are also scheduled, she said.

The talk show would be dedicated to the founder chairman of department, Dr Abdul Moeed.

Meanwhile, all the former students have been asked to contact the department for registration latest by July 25.—APP
