LAHORE, Dec 11: Five robbers looted cash, jewellery, a car and other valuables from a house in Divine Homes near Airport Road on Wednesday.

The incident took place in a society manned with security guards and equipped with surveillance cameras.

Waqas Shahzad, an employee of Dawn newspaper, said five people in a car came to his house to see his car he had advertised for sale on a website. He said the men first checked the car and then suddenly took out their pistols. They took his brother Agha Haris inside the house and held all family members hostage.

He said one of the men drove away in the car they had come on and then looted 20 tolas of gold, Rs60,000 in cash, five cell phones, an LCD, a television from his house and escaped in his Honda Accord 2006 model with its original registration book. He said the suspects removed SIM cards from all stolen cell phones.

Cantonment SP (Operations) Umer Riaz said a case under Section 392 of PPC had been registered against unidentified men and efforts initiated to investigate the incident.

The SP said police had collected evidence from the spot and were also examining CCTV footage.
