MARDAN, Nov 24: Chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Maulana Samiul Haq has criticised the federal government and army for what he called poor reaction over the US drone strikes on a seminary in the settled area of Hangu district and other parts of Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

He was speaking at “Meet the Press” programme of Mardan Press Club here on Sunday. He said that the continuation of drone strikes had proved wrong all claims of the federal government that it had convinced the American leadership on stopping the attacks in Pakistani territory.

He asked the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take suo motu notice of the drone attacks before his retirement. The JUI-S chief, however, said that the Difa-i-Pakistan Council would soon move the Supreme Court against the drone attacks.

He lauded Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan for his sit-in and protest agitation against the American drone attacks besides registration of the FIR concerning the Hangu attack. He, however, pointed out that the PTI chief had not nominated any accused in the FIR.

He said that Mr Khan should have nominated Barrack Obama or the CIA in the FIR. He pointed out that it was the drone attacks which had been spreading the cancer of terrorism throughout the country and creating law and order situation.

Maulana Samiul Haq strongly criticised the dual policy of Americans and Europeans on human rights, saying that they considered only their own people as human beings while continuing to violate rights of people in the Muslim countries. He asked all the political and religious parties of Pakistan to get united to thwart the conspiracies by external elements.—Correspondent
