Read it carefully: not the film industry — cinema industry. Ever since Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and Waar became ‘hits’ (in business parlance) some affluent people have started thinking of investing in cineplexes and cinema houses. It is believed that in Karachi alone six more cinema houses will see the light of day in a few months’ time. A former Test cricketer too intends to invest in the cineplex business and will come up with one or two such facilities in the city’s upscale areas.
Hmm… this means Pakistan will now have to produce at least a dozen (successful) films a year. Is that possible? Only time will tell.
