Blaze in Mumbai building kills four, injures eight

MUMBAI: At least four persons were killed and eight others wounded in a fire which broke out in a seven-storey building in Mumbai's suburban Vikhroli area early on Monday, the online edition of The Hindustan Times newspaper quoted officials as saying.

The report further said that according to fire brigade sources the fire broke out in a residential building located in Vikhroli's Siddharthanagar area where the victims were sleeping at the time of the incident.

The cause of the blaze could not be ascertained till the filing of the report.

According to TV reports, the fire originated from the electric metre cable box and spread through the cable network.

The building occupants were evacuated and the victims were shifted to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
