KARACHI, Nov 1: Two young men were killed and as many wounded in an armed attack on an internet café in the Quaidabad area on Friday, police said.

Quaidabad DSP Ghulam Navi said that the police got information that militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan were planning to launch an attack on the internet café in Sherpao Colony.

He said that a police team in an armoured personnel carrier reached the place, but four suspects riding two motorcycles emerged there and opened indiscriminate firing causing injuries to four persons.

He said that the police returned fire wounding an attacker. He fell from the bike, but his accomplices managed to take him away.

The four wounded were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared Waqas Ishaq, 18, and an unidentified young man dead. Imran Nisar, 25, and Tayab Zahid, 28, were admitted for treatment.

The DSP said that the militants wanted to target someone at the internet café but their target had already left the place.
