LAHORE, Oct 19: The Eid Cup will be the main attraction of the nine-event card dished out for the eighth Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

A class five divisions I and II combined handicap race to be gone over the middle distance of 1,300 metres, the event is to be contested by six acceptors, four of them having the best bloodline credentials over the race distance and are in good form. They are Winning Habits, Kokab, Don and Formula One.

In all, 87 horses are taking part in the nine events with six of them comprising fields crossing the double figure mark.

Five events will be contested over 800 metres, one 1,300 metres and two over 1,000 metres.

The first race will start at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards’ recent crackdown on riders involved in malpractices and severe punishments handed down to over a dozen jockeys and riding boys, would sure yield positive results and the standard of riding is expected to improve to the delight of equine sports connoisseurs.

The riders and trainers should be aware of it that they are granted permission to perform honestly and diligently with strict adherence to LRC rules of racing and any breach of the trust makes them liable to prescribed punishment.
