ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi on Friday asked the National Police Foundation (NPF) to implement the court directions regarding allotment of plots to 11 serving and retired police officers.

He passed these directions while hearing a contempt of court petition filed by former additional inspector general (AIG) Aslam Tareen.

The IHC on June 6, 2012, while disposing of a petition of 11 former police officers and others, had directed the NPF to restore the allotment of the plots to former IGP Ghulam Mohammad, AIG Tareen, Tallat Mehmood, Israr Ahmed, DIG Hanif Arif, SSP Gohar Nafees, retired bureaucrat Ghazanfar Abbas, Mirza Yasin, Ahmed Bhatti, Munir Ahmed and Warda Naqvi.

In March this year, SSP Nafees filed a contempt of court petition against the NPF managing director, saying despite the court ordered he had not restored the allotment of his plot in NPF Housing Scheme, Islamabad.

Chief Justice Kasi warned NPF managing director Rafiq Hassan of contempt proceedings if he failed to implement the court orders by October 25. The petitioner said the NPF had allotted 250 square-yard plot to each police official in October 2011. However, in November the same year the interior ministry suspended the allotments.

The same month the ministry also cancelled the allotment of plots to former director general FIA Tahseen Anwer Shah, additional IGs Mohammad Khalid Qureshi, Chaudhry Mohammad Manzoor, Naseemur Rehman and SSP Naseemur Rehman.

But later these allotments were restored as these police officials were comparatively more influential and sitting in powerful departments.

The court will take up the matter again on October 25.
