CHINIOT, Aug 12: A joint team of Chiniot and Islamabad police captured on Monday a brother and an accomplice of the would-be suicide bomber who was killed by guards of an Imambargah on the outskirts of the federal capital on Eid day.

Chiniot district police officer Munir Zia told journalists that the would-be bomber had been identified as Zakaullah, a resident of Chak 239 JB in Bhowana tehsil. He was trying to enter the main hall of the Imambargah when a guard shot him dead.

Zaka had six brothers and three sisters. His father Mohammad Bakhsh was a schoolteacher who, the DPO said, had guided his sons to become followers of Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, a leader of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan.

Zaka did his matriculation from his village before moving to Jamia Mahmoodia in Jhang for religious education where he was trained as an activist of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi group.

The DPO said Zaka’s brother Sanaullah and accomplice Abdullah were captured during raids conducted on several houses, adding that both were handed over to Islamabad police for investigation.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police seized six people, including four from the capital, for allegedly helping the would-be bomber, sources said.

They said some clues were found at the crime scene which led to a house on the Simly Dam Road which was raided by investigators and other personnel of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and four people, including two women, were arrested on Sunday.

During investigations the residents of the house said the deceased came over to their house a few days ago. During his stay there a few people met him and gave him a parcel.

During the search of the house the investigators also found a cellphone which was in the use of Zakaullah.

During the probe, it was discovered that the deceased was in contact with a man in Parachinar. Subsequently, raids were conducted in Parachinar and Faisalabad which led to the arrest of two persons, the sources said.

At the time of the incident, Zaka was carrying explosives weighing 8kg, but fortunately he failed to detonate his suicide belt.
