THIS is with reference to the letter ‘Motor tax: NBP’s laxity’ (Aug 5). The staff of the excise and taxation department, Sindh, has been deputed at select branches to facilitate motor vehicle tax payers by offering them ‘motor vehicle tax challan’ through their system.

The branch staff collects the tax at cash counters. The bank ensures the collection of tax at cash counters, but cannot ensure the deputed staff of the excise and taxation department.

The bank authorities on their part remain in contact with the relevant officials at the excise and taxation department to ensure that their staff remains available at our designated branches and observe business timings for customer services.

No direct interaction is held between the tax depositor and bank’s staff. NBP denounces any collation with any official or proclaimed agent to facilitate in payment of tax.
