PESHAWAR, July 29: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will establish 10 seminaries under a pilot project in the province to impart modern education to the religious students.

This was stated by Provincial Minister for Zakat, Auqaf and Religious Affairs Haji Habibur Rahman while addressing a prize distribution ceremony here on Monday.

The ceremony was arranged to distribute prizes and certificates among the intelligent students of Wafaqul Madaris.

The Auqaf secretary, Auqaf administrator and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The minister said that Jamaat-i-Islami joined the government to serve Islam and Muslims. He said that they would set up 10 seminaries under a pilot project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where students would be imparted religious as well as modern education.

The minister expressed concern over issuance of fake certificates to people by the religious seminaries in the country. He said that confidence of people in the certificate of religious seminaries could be restored by discouraging that trend.

The minister urged Wafaqul Madaris to take strict action in that connection. He said that unity among the Muslims was need of the hour to foil conspiracies of the foreign powers and their supporters and form a peaceful society free from all sorts of terrorism.

Mr Rahman said that the Muslims should differentiate between jihad and terrorism. He said Muslims were at daggers drawn with each other as they were divided in various sects and groups. “Islam does not allow us to do so,” he said and urged them to develop fraternity and love with each other.

He said that the main responsibility rested with the ulema to guide people about the right way.

Later, the minister gave away certificates to the first, second and third position holders of Wafaqul Madaris and congratulated the successful students.
