PESHAWAR: At least two security forces’ persons were injured Sunday when a roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED) targeted their vehicle in Peshawar’s Wazir Bagh area.

According to a DawnNews source, the police mobile van was targeted with a roadside IED in Wazir Bagh on the outskirts of Peshawar.

The vehicle was completely damaged and two security forces’ persons were injured, who were immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

No loss of life was reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, a search operation was being conducted in the area to apprehend those responsible for the attack, but no arrests were made till the filing of this report.

Peshawar is the gateway to Pakistan's troubled northwestern tribal region where troops have for years been locked in deadly battles with insurgents.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility after today’s attack, but outlawed militant organisation Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan has frequently targeted police and security forces with bomb and gun attacks during the five-year insurgency.
