KARACHI, July 23: A young man was shot dead in Chakiwara on Tuesday, police said.

They said it appeared that armed men brought the victim, who was in his early-30s, near the stop of P-1 minibus on Mirza Adam Khan Road, fired at him and fled. He died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at the Civil Hospital Karachi.

Killing in Malir Cantt

A man was shot dead in the Malir Cantonment area on Tuesday.

Police said Khadim Hussain Baloch, 40, was passing through Saadi Town late on Monday night when he was targeted by gunmen.

The victim’s brother told the Malir Cantonment police that he would get the FIR lodged after burial.

The motive for the killing could not be ascertained immediately.

Woman found dead

A woman was found dead in her Orangi Town house on Tuesday, according to the Mominabad police.

They said that the body of Qudrat Bibi, 45, was found hanging with a phone wire wrapped around her neck in her house in Quaid-i-Awam Colony.

The police said that her husband, Muhammad Yasin, had gone to work at the time of her death.

It was not known as to whether she committed suicide or was murdered, the police said, adding that the body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

One killed, seven wounded in Raxer Lane clash

A young man was shot dead and seven others were wounded in an armed clash between two groups in the Old Golimar area on Tuesday evening, police said.

“Two groups of drug peddlers fought with each other in Raxer Lane, resulting in the killing of one person, identified as Ansar, 25, and bullet injuries to seven others,” said Pak Colony SHO Bial Raza.

It could not be ascertained immediately as to whether the victims included passers-by or not.

The dead and wounded were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. The wounded were identified as Mudassir, 21, Amir, 17, Sarmad, 16, Tanveer Gul, 45, Ayan Badshah, 43, Rahat Gul, 30 and Muhammad Ishaq, 30.
