LAHORE, April 21: A spokesman for the Punjab government has dispelled the impression that the security of former president Pervez Musharraf is the responsibility of the Punjab government.

He said under the orders of the Islamabad chief commissioner, the residence of the former president had been declared as sub-jail and one additional superintendent jail, one assistant superintendent jail, one chief warder and seven other officials had been detailed for its management.

The spokesman said security and other matters pertaining to the sub-jail were the responsibility of the federal government. He also negated the impression that the sub-jail was an extension of Adiala Jail.

He said the role of Punjab government was limited only to the provision of a few officials of the prison department whereas the general control would remain with the federal government.
