THIS is apropos of the letter ‘Labour Day in US’ (May 6). For the general benefit, I would like to confirm that Labour Day is celebrated in the US on the first Monday of September, irrespective of the date. Labour Day is celebrated as a national holiday in the US. However, the day celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers to the American economy. Normally, the celebrations include parades and barbecues on the federal holiday.
