I WOULD like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned, especially the newly-elected PTI government, towards gas theft in Lakki Marwat. While gas theft is rampant in Lakki Marwat, this menace is prevalent all over the country.

There are two basic reasons for gas theft. The first is the privilege of receiving no gas bill and, second, the illegal connection is an easier and hassle-free way of getting electricity.

By hassles I mean the apathy of and demand for bribe by the authorities concerned.

The theft is utilised in making generators run, causing gas pressure to weaken in the adjoining legal connections, as well as causing a loss of billions of rupees to the country.

Moreover, these illegal connections are local bombs as the connections are installed by non-professionals.

I appeal to the authorities concerned to wake up and apply all its resources to check on an emergency basis this menace and legalise all illegal connections with proper meters. The people involved in having illegal connections should also be fined.
