QUETTA: Militants targeted a police vehicle through a remote-controlled bomb in Killi Qambrani area of Quetta, the capital of restive Balochistan province on Saturday.

Police sources said the vehicle was partially damaged during the attack. The militants had planted the bomb on the roadside, they said.

“The bomb went off when the police vehicle reached the spot,” they said.

The blast shattered windowpanes of nearby shops and homes. There was no loss of life from the explosion.

Police said they had detained suspects soon after the blast and shifted them to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. However, police suspect Baloch insurgents operating in the area.
