QUETTA: A shutter down strike was observed in Quetta against twin suicide bombings in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan on Sunday.

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), a Pashtun nationalist group, and traders community had given the call of strike to condemn the incident. All shops and markets were closed during the strike. The flow of traffic remained thin throughout the day during the strike.

Balochistan government also observed a day of mourning against the tragic bombing which targeted female students in Sardar Bhadur Khan Women University along with officials and nurses in Bolan Medical Complex Hospital Quetta.

Strict security measures were adopted by the provincial administration to maintain law and order and avoid occurrence of another untoward incident in the provincial capital.

No unexpected incident was reported during the strike.

The Women University was also closed for an indefinite period to mourn the murder of ill-fated female students during a suicide attack on Saturday.

According to a press release of the university, students and teachers have been asked to wait for another announcement and avoid coming to the university.

FIR lodged over Jinnah residency attack in Ziarat

Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the Quaid-e-Azam residency bomb attack was lodged in Ziarat police station on Sunday.

Police officials told Dawn.com that watchmen of residency Habibullah lodged the FIR against unknown people in Ziarat police station.

Terrorism, murder etc charges have been mentioned in the FIR. The case has been registered against unknown people, police confirmed.

Armed militants attacked Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's last resting place in Ziarat in the wee hours of Saturday.

One policeman who resisted the assailants was killed and a civilian employee of the residency was injured in the attack. The attackers managed to escape from the spot.
