LAKKI MARWAT, March 28: Police on Wednesday recovered a kidnapped man after killing a captor and arresting his two accomplices in an encounter with them in Chandukhel area.

According to a local official of police, Ameer Hamza Shewani was kidnapped in Saryab area of Quetta on March 14 and was brought to Lakki Marwat district for shifting to South Waziristan Agency.

After learning about the development, District Police Officer Gulzar Ali Khan directed Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Naurang Circle) Sanaullah Khan to ensure the captive’s safe recovery.

Thereafter, a heavy contingent of police backed by Anti-Terror Squad and Elite Force commandos surrounded kidnappers in Chandukhel area. The kidnappers threw hand grenades and fired gunshots at law-enforcers, who returned fire.

The encounter, which lasted around two hours, left a kidnapper, Kalazai Khan, a resident of Sararogha (South Waziristan Agency), dead. However, law-enforcer remained unhurt.

Law-enforcers arrested two other kidnappers, Maskeenullah, a resident of Mir Ali, and Saifullah, a resident of Quetta, and seized hand grenades and two motorcycles.

The official said the captive, who remained safe during the encounter, was later shifted to Serai Gambila police post for recording statement.

Also in the day, a schoolteacher was freed hours after his kidnapping by unidentified gunmen.

Aurangzeb, who was appointed superintendent at Government High School, Wanda Shahaabkhel, for Secondary School Certificate examinations, was kidnapped from the school late on Tuesday.
