DADU, March 20: A case was registered on Tuesday against the SHO and 10 policemen of Jhallo station on charge of detaining and beating a singer, her husband and their team of musicians on Sunday night.

Jhallo police registered an FIR under the directives of the Sindh government on the complaint of Sabir Hussain Khoso husband of singer Deeba Sahar. Those booked included SHO Iftikhar Hussain Jamali, ASI Hubdar Shah, Head Constable Zulfiqar Ali and seven other constables.

The complainant stated in the FIR that he was on way to Hyderabad with his singer wife Deba Sahar after attending a concert in Khairpur Nathan Shah. The entire team of musicians were detained on reaching the jurisdiction of Jhallo police station. Police detained and tortured them and also deprived them of Rs50,000 and two mobile phones.

The SSP of Dadu had appointed the DSP Fida Hussain Leghari to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, Deba Sahar and Sabir Hussain and Iftikhar Jamali appeared in the court of district and sessions judge here on Tuesday.

Jamali told the court that he would record his statement after hiring a lawyer and sought one day. The hearing was fixed on Wednesday.
