KARACHI, Feb 16: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday provided copies of documentary evidence to 16 suspects in a double murder case.

Abdul Bashar Bengali, Kamran Madhuri, Sohail Commando, Mohsin, Iftikhar, Irfan, Subhan, Shahjahan, Allauddin, Mushtaq Khatri, Jabbar Zafar and others along with the absconding accused have been charged with attacking the house of Sindh Dost Party activist Ashiq Chandio in Chakra Goth, kidnapping his nephew and killing two others on Aug 19 last year.

The copies of the FIR, charge-sheet, memos, statements of prosecution witnesses as recorded by the investigation officer concerned and other documents were provided to the suspects under Section 265-C (supply of statements and documents to the accused) of the criminal procedure code.

Later, Judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon, who is conducting the trial inside the central prison, adjourned the hearing till March 1, when the court would initiate the proceedings under Section 87 (proclamation of person absconding) and 88 (attachment of property of person absconding) of CrPC against the absconding accused. -Staff Reporter
