LAHORE, Jan 30: Two alleged criminals allegedly escaped from the Naulakha police station late on Sunday.

A police source said Arif and Imran alias Nasu escaped from the police station when the policemen headed by the SHO had to rush to a murder spot on Fleming Road on the call of the divisional SP.

He said it was being investigated that if the suspects were helped in their escape by some policemen.

Arif was arrested in connection with a hurt case while Imran was detained in cases of extortion, quarrel and aerial firing, he said. However, a spokesman for the Lahore police denied the escape. FOUND SLAIN:

A 38-year-old man was found slain at his uncle's house in Harbanspura here on Monday.

Police said Sadiq of Balakot was spotted dead in a room with his throat slit open and multiple stab wounds on the body.

Police shifted the body to a hospital for an autopsy.

A murder case was registered against unidentified killer(s) on the complaint of victim's uncle Bashir. Fire:

A fire broke out in a restaurant in H-Block of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Monday, burning down valuables and damaging structures worth millions.

According to Rescue 1122, the fire erupted because of a gas leak which engulfed the entire restaurant. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident. Restaurant owner Abdul Raheem estimated a loss up to Rs2.5 million.

In another incident, a fire broke out in the sanitary store of Shafique at Mozang Chungi, gutting valuables worth Rs300,000.

A short circuit was thought to be the cause of blaze. ACCIDENT:

A 28-year-old woman motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Akhri Mint Stop in Baghbanpura on Monday.

Aneema of Ravi Road was going on a motorcycle when a vehicle hit and killed her.

The Baghbanpura additional station house officer said the girl slipped from the bike, suffered a head injury and died on the spot. He said a possibility could not be ruled out that she was hit by a vehicle, but not a single witness had come forward to tell police about the incident. He said the body had been handed over to the next-of-kin without autopsy. TRANSFERRED:

The inspector general of Punjab police has transferred and posted two police officers.

According to a notification, SP Asghar Ali, who was awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted SP Headquarters, Punjab Highway Patrol, while Sheikhupura additional SP Irfanullah Khan has been posted Multan's Gulgasht division additional SP against existing vacancies.
