They said that the killing occurred in New Karachi’s Sector 5-L close to a weekly bazaar near Alam Pride Apartments within the remit of the Bilal Colony police station.
They said that the three MQM activists — Nazimuddin alias Adil, Adnan Ali and Irfan alias Shahrukh — had come to the weekly bazaar and were waiting for its organiser in their jeep.
In the meantime, two assailants on a motorcycle emerged there, opened fire on the men sitting in the jeep and fled, the police added. The wounded men were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where they died.
Hospital sources said that the victims had sustained multiple bullet wounds in the head and chest.
The police found several spent bullet casings of 9mm pistol from the scene of crime.
MQM leaders Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Hammad Siddiqui and a number of MQM workers also reached the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on learning about the incident.
