Man killed stepfather

ATTOCK, Sept 9: A young man killed his stepfather with the help of his mother in Boota village of Attock Sadder police station.

The sources said on Friday that Amjid Ali reported to the police that his father Jehandad Awan had two wives and his second wife Bakhat Bibi had a son, Sardar Khan, from her first husband. On Thursday, Sardar Khan with the help of his mother Bakhat Bibi allegedly killed his father and buried his body in the courtyard of the house. However, during the visit, he found blood stains in the courtyard.  On suspicion, he exhumed the body and reported to the police which registered a case against both the accused and started investigation.

Meanwhile, Attock Saddar police station registered a kidnapping and murder case against Muhammad Ramzan, resident of Kasur district on the report of Muhammad Sadiq of Sallar village as he alleged that the accused kidnapped and killed his 18-year old daughter on August 24. —Correspondent

Karachi situation alarming

FATEHJANG, Sept 9:  Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmed on Friday said that his party would play its role in bringing peace to Karachi and Balochistan. Talking to newsmen, he said the situation in Karachi was very alarming where three power-sharing parties, MQM, ANP and PPP, could not maintain peace. He said the PML-N would move a resolution in the National Assembly in its session being held on September 12 to discuss the Karachi situation. —Correspondent

Fumigation drive launched

TAXILA, Sept 9: The Tehsil Municipal Administration launched fumigation campaign here on Friday.

Briefing newsmen about the drive, Assistant Commissioner Arif Raheem said all urban and thickly populated areas of the town would be fumigated in different phases.

He said the campaign was launched after multiple cases of the hemorrhagic fever were reported in some parts of the country. He said that fumigation would be started in villages, schools besides in the urban areas. —Correspondent

13 outlaws arrested

ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: The capital police on Friday arrested 13 outlaws for their alleged involvement in different crimes and recovered illegal arms, liquor and narcotics from their possession.

A spokesman for the police said that Nilor police, on a tip-off, arrested seven accused and recovered five pistols, two 12-bore guns and ammunition from them. The Golra police during routine patrolling arrested two accused and recovered a 12-bore gun, a pistol and 30 rounds from their possession. Likewise, the Bhara Kahu police arrested an accused and recovered a 30-bore pistol from him.

Similarly, the Industrial Area police arrested a bootlegger and recovered 24 wine bottles from him. The Sabzi Mandi police also arrested two persons and recovered three wine bottles and one kilogram charas from them.

Moreover, the Shahzad Town police arrested an accused and recovered 20 wine bottles from him.Separate cases were registered against them and further investigation was in progress.—Staff Reporter

Cops return bag to owner

ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: Two officials of the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Friday returned the bag containing cash and documents, which they found on a road, to its owner.

Head of the ITP’s help unit (1915) Assistant Sub-Inspector Haq Nawaz and mechanic Wajid Hussain, while patrolling at the Kashmir Highway, observed that a bag placed at the roof top of an Alto car had fallen on the road and the car driver was not aware of it. They immediately noted down the registration number of the car and approached the ITP control room to trace and stop the car.

Later, the car was stopped at G-9 by the ITP patrolling staff and the driver was informed about the bag. The driver introduced him as Shoaib Khan, a student of MS in the Fast University. He was taken to ITP Headquarters and the bag was handed him over in the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood.

At this, Shoaib Khan appreciated the police performance and said that the force had improved the police image. On the occasion, the SSP announced cash prize and certificates for the two policemen. —Staff Reporter

Position holders honoured

MURREE, Sept 9: The girl students, who secured first, second and third positions in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations conducted by the boards of intermediate and secondary education of Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur and D G Khan, visited the hilly resort on Friday on the invitation of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif.

The students were given Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Punjab police. They would stay at Murree as official guests of the Punjab government for three days. They would also be taken to the recreational spots like Patriata, Bhurbhan and others.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar, Director General Protocol Punjab Asjad Ghani, Assistant Commissioner Murree Dr Omer Jehangir and other officials greeted the students on behalf of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif who could not attend the function due to his engagements. While talking to the position holders, DCO Rawalpindi said that the Guard of Honour given to the students reflected the interest of the chief minister in promoting education and improving its standard in the province.

On the occasion, the girl students expressed their gratitude to the chief minister Punjab for honouring and encouraging them.—Correspondent

Lodges to get boundary wall

ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to construct a boundary wall outside the Parliament Lodges.

He was chairing a high-level meeting in which security situation of the Lodges was discussed.

Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Rai Mujtaba Kharal, MNA Begum Naseem, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Inspector General Police, Director General National Crisis Management Cell and Chairman CDA were also present on the occasion. He said it had been decided that the security of Parliament Lodges would be enhanced and it would be the same as that of the Prime Minister Secretariat. “A Nadra terminal would be established in the Lodges and Nadra would issue visitor cards,” he said.—APP
