KARACHI, Sept 8: An estate agent and two other people were gunned down in different localities of the city on Thursday, police said.

The estate agent was killed by gunmen in the Manghopir area, the police added.

They said Samiullah, 26, son of Abdul Ghaffar, was riding his motorbike through Sultanabad No 2 when the assailants on another motorcycle opened fire on him.

The victim died on the spot, the police said.

They said the assailants used an AK-47 assault rifle to shoot Samiullah.

The police found several spent bullet casings of an AK-47 rifle at the crime scene.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The young man hailing from Waziristan lived in Sultanabad Sector 3.

The police suspected some personal enmity or a dispute concerning the land sale or purchase as a possible motive behind the killing.

PSM employee shot dead

A middle-aged man was killed for resisting a robbery attempt near Nagan Chowrangi on Thursday.

Police said Tauqeer, 45, son of Kamaluddin, was shot dead for resisting a motorcycle snatching attempt.

The police said the incident occurred near Siddiq-i-Akbar Masjid. The two suspects took away the two-wheeler, the police said.

The victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was an employee of Pakistan Steel Mills and father of five.

Man killed by ‘extortionists’

A man was killed in a shantytown in Sohrab Goth late Wednesday night.

Police said the incident occurred at a barber’s shop in Lasi Goth. They added that Ghulam Rasool, 26, was shot dead by three suspects as he came out of the shop after taking a bath.

The police said the victim was a resident of Afghan Camp.

Sohrab Goth DSP Iftikhar Lodhi said the suspects had gone to the shop to spread terror as they had been demanding extortion from its owner. He said the victim was not their actual target.

An FIR (556/2011) was registered at the Sohrab Goth police station on a complaint of the victim’s father, Haji Anwar.

The DSP claimed arrest of 14 suspects who had been nominated in the FIR.

Body found

The body of a young man was found on the ground near the mausoleum of the Quaid-i-Azam on Thursday morning.

Police described the man as an unidentified drug addict who had been struck in the head. The body was found on the Quaidabad Ground near the mausoleum.

The police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Later it was shifted to the Edhi morgue for want of identification.

An FIR (252/2011) was registered at the Brigade police station on behalf of the state.
