TIMERGARA, May 7: Police claimed to have solved the mystery of a blind murder case in Adenzai area with the help of cellular phone within 36 days after hectic efforts. Briefing journalists at Chakdara on Saturday, DSP Khalid Khan said that police found a dead body in the fields of Qala Kitiari area on April 1. The deceased, later identified as Shiraz Khan, a resident of Mardan, didn’t posses any documents.

However, police found a telephone number written on a piece of paper with pencil and started investigations, he added. He said that police followed the phone number and focused on three more cellular phone numbers on suspicion. He said that after hectic efforts the case was solved.

He said Sheraz was engaged to a girl in Batkhela but she had an affair with another man of Dir Lower. The DSP said that both the girl and the man from Dir were arrested while raids were being conducted for another accused in the case.

He said that the accused called the victim to Kitiari on March 31 at night with voice changer, pretending that he was a girl wanting to meet him. The police officer said as the victim reached there he was attacked by a third person, who axed him to death.

During preliminary interrogation, according to police, the girl confessed that she had an affair with the accused but after engagement she had told him to forget her.

The accused had no option but to remove Sheraz, a medical rap by profession, from his way, the DSP said, adding he planned to commit his murder. “It was all mobile phone record that led us to the conclusion and we finally got the culprits,” he added.
