VEHARI, April 9: A woman died at Lahore's Mayo Hospital on Saturday -- a day after she set her ablaze at her home in Lalazar Colony.

Reports said Fatima, 30, quarrelled with her husband Mukhtar Ahmed over a routine issue of how to make both ends meet. Desperate beyond measure, she set herself ablaze and was taken to District Headquarters Hospital, where the doctor referred her to Mayo Hospital because of grievous burns. She died after a few hours. Neighbours told Mukhtar, the father of two, had been unemployed for long and the couple's quarrel was a routine affair.

Danywal police SHO Shahid Bhrola claimed the woman ended her life due to financial worries. He said there was no call for registration of a case so far.

On Thursday last, three sisters had committed suicide in Burewala's Madina Colony due to poverty.
