DADU, Feb 23: Two activists of Awami Ittehad Party were killed in Mehar on Wednesday over an old enmity between Pathan and Khaskheli tribesmen. Victims Allahdino Khaskheli and his nephew Mohammad Ayoub Khaskheli were going to Dadu on motorcycles to attend a court hearing. When they reached the Kazi Arif road, armed men shot them dead.Relatives reached the spot and held a demonstration, placing the bodies on the Mehar-Detho road, for an hour.

They dispersed peacefully when the SHO of Mehar assured them for registration of a case and arrest of the accused.

Qurban Ali, son of Allahdino Khaskheli, alleged that his father and uncle had been shot dead at the behest of a local PPP leader. He demanded early arrest of the accused.

Chairman of Awami Ittehad Party Liaquat Ali Jatoi has condemned the killings and demanded arrest of the killers.

He said that PPP leaders had lodged a number of cases against his party activists and two had been shot dead.Mehar police registered an FIR against Mumtaz Pathan, Ali Hassan Pathan, Ghulam Hussain Depar, Barkat Depar and one unknown man.

EXHIBITION: People from different walks of life visited an art exhibition and book fair organised by the district government in collaboration with artists here on Wednesday.

Saeed Mangi, Fatah Daudpoto, Dr Zubeda Junejo, Naimat Khilji and Sultan Chandio displayed their paintings and sculptures in the art gallery.

They displayed portraits of Benazir Bhutto, Ustad Bukhari and cultural places.

Students of different schools from Dadu district visited the show.

Mr Mangi said it was a joint effort of the artists of Jamshoro and Dadu. He said that creative art was available in Sindh, but there were no opportunities for artists.

The exhibition will continue till 27th.
