KARACHI, Jan 13: A young man, his wife and brother-in-law were found dead inside their New Karachi house on Thursday, police said.

The police suspected personal enmity as a motive behind the killing of 40-year-old Aftab alias Khanu, his 34-year-old wife, Qamar, and 27-year-old brother-in-law, Tanveer.

The police officials said that the bodies were found lying in two separate rooms on the ground floor of the house in Sector 5-G of New Karachi. “A relative of the victims came to see them in the evening, but found them dead. The police were accordingly informed about the bodies,” said SP Karamullah Soomro of the New Karachi town.

He said the bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

He quoted doctors as saying that Aftab had suffered two gunshot wounds and the other two victims were tortured and then strangled to death.

The bodies appeared to have lain there for four to six hours before they were examined by the doctors, he said.

“We have found two spent bullet casings from the crime-scene indicating that the firing was carried out inside the house,” he said. However, he added, the neighbours declined to have heard gunfire.

Banker shot dead A young employee of a private bank was gunned down in the Moosa Lane area of Lyari on Thursday, police said.

They added that two armed men riding a motorcycle pulled up close to Anwar Raza, 38, who was busy chatting with friends near his home.

“One of the riders got off the motorbike, pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots at Anwar,” said an official at the Baghdadi police station. The attackers escaped, leaving him in a pool of blood, he said.

He added that the victim was rushed to the civil hospital where he died during the treatment. He had suffered two gunshot wounds, the official said.

“We have registered a case (FIR 10/2011) under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified suspects on a complaint of the victim's younger brother,” the police official said.
