87 candidates for 20 Senate seats

ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: About 87 candidates are in the run for 20 Senate seats, according to the final list published by the Election Commission on Sunday.

Candidates on 22 seats for Punjab and Sindh, seven for the NWFP and one general seat from the federal capital have already returned unopposed.

The election will now be held for 20 seats, 11 from Balochistan, four each from Fata and the NWFP and one from the federal capital.

Election Commission officials said arrangements were being made for polling on March 4.

In Balochistan, there are 23 candidates for seven general seats and 13 for two seats reserved for women and seven for two seats reserved for ulema and technocrats.

All 34 candidates who had filed nomination papers in Fata are in the run for four seats.—APP
