HYDERABAD, Feb 15: The Association for Betterment and Development of Human Being, SPO and the Women Action Forum held a joint meeting here to discuss ways of forming a joint network to create awareness in society with regard to violence against women.

Speaking on the occasion, the executive director of the association, Rafia Bangash, said that discrimination against women, domestic violence, sexual harassment, sale of women, karo-kari, jirga system and child marriage were the evils that continued to haunt the society.

She stressed the need for joint efforts to eliminate these evils.

The coordinator of the WAR project, Nasreen Latif Siddiqui, said that her organisation was also providing legal help to the victims of sexual harassment.

She urged all the organisations working for the rights of women and children to unite on a single platform to effectively fight those issues.

Mustafa Baloch, Amar Sindhu, Manzoor Baloch and others also spoke. It was agreed in principle that a joint network should be formed to protect women and children against violence.

The details about the formation of network will be discussed in the next meeting.
