MARDAN, Feb 6: A government-run girls school was blown up by suspected militants here on Friday.

The militants planted improvised explosive device near the wall of the Government Girls High School Shergarh, in the outskirts of Mardan, which went off with a bang.

The school was partially damaged as wall and one room were completely destroyed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far but locals and police see Taliban’s hand behind the explosion.

The incident created panic among residents as the activities of militants have resurfaced in the district.

The militants had blown up bridges and girl schools in different areas of Mardan in the recent past to create law and order situation.

Some two weeks ago the Muttee Banda bridge was partially damaged in explosion.
