KARACHI, Feb 6: A division bench of the Sindh High Court on Friday issued notices to the Sindh chief secretary, Karachi nazim and Advocate-General of Sindh on a petition filed by a lady medical officer.

The petitioner, Dr Salma Kausar, submitted through Advocate Chaudhry Ashraf Khan that the Sindh chief secretary had issued an order posting her as district officer (administration) in the city district government Karachi on November 8, 2008.

The counsel submitted that she had joined the new assignment but after one month the city nazim, without any authority, deliberately posted her as town health officer, Orangi Town, and later transferred her to Jamshed Town.

In Dec 2008, the health department withdrew the orders issued by the city nazim on the pretext that only the chief secretary was the competent authority to issue transfer orders of officers working in BPS-19.

The counsel submitted that the petitioner was a widow and she was waiting for her posting orders.

He prayed to the court to direct the respondents to give earlier posting to his client if the city nazim was not a competent authority.

The bench comprising Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Arshad Noor Khan after preliminary hearing issued notices to the chief secretary, city nazim and AG Sindh for Feb 11.—PPI
