THATTA, Feb 1: The Department of Cooperative Societies has ordered dissolution of the governing body of Makli cooperative housing society for its alleged misappropriation and violations of rules and regulations.

The decision was taken on the basis of an inquiry report prepared by district officer cooperatives societies Hyderabad Ghulam Mohammed Mallah.

The defunct body comprised its chairman Karam Ali Uqaili and six directors of the governing body Gulbahar Shah Shirazi, Iqbal Solangi , Nawaz Ali Memon, Haji Kamali Memon, Syed Azhar Shah.

Mumtaz Ali Chand has taken over the affairs as the new administrator.

The step has been taken following the complaints moved by Makli Society residents committee headed by Inayat Qureshi about gross misappropriations including disposal of some 488 costly amenity plots.

The residents had pointed out that an amenity plot meant for establishment of a school was recently disposed off to a private group in violation of rules.
