PESHAWAR, Jan 19: NWFP Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain assured construction of all the schools destroyed by militants in Swat and other areas of the province.
He told reporters on Monday here that the government would come hard on those elements who had challenged its writ.
The minister said that the educational institutions in Swat were closed on account of annual winter vacations and would be reopened from March 1. He said that the government would ensure the safety and security of the girls’ schools’ staff and children.
The provincial information minister reiterated government’s commitment to utilise all available resources for restoration of law and order in the region.
Mian Iftikhar said that the government was achieving success against militants, adding that cooperation of government agencies and the public was a must to wipe out the menace of terrorism and militancy.—APP
PPI adds: The provincial information minister said that government had dismissed militants’ threats for closure of girls schools adding that the schools in Swat were closed for winter vacations from January 15 to March 1.
He said that tho schools destroyed by the militants would be reconstructed or repaired and the government would also provide alternative buildings and alternative examination halls in peaceful areas of the province in order to safe the future of the students.
This, Mian Iftikhar said, while talking to media persons at Media Centre here on Monday.
On the occasion, some students gave a presentation for launching a website that could help find the missing children, the project or the software has been given the name “Find Your Children Online”. Mian Iftikhar said that the provincial government would help the students make their project more effective.
