KARACHI, Jan 19: The Sindh High Court issued notices to the Sindh IG police, CCPO, Deputy Attorney-General, Sindh Advocate-General and others in a case pertaining to the disappearance of a businessman.
Mohammad Abrar Khan moved the court against the disappearance of his son, Sarfaraz Khan, citing the federal and provincial interior ministries, Sindh and Karachi police chiefs, Makli DSP, SHOs of Al-Falah, Dhabeji and Thatta police stations as respondents.
His counsel, Mohammad Rashid Bhoyo, submitted that Sarfaraz was coming to Karachi in his car from the interior of Sindh on Oct 16, 2008, when he was attacked by armed men. He lodged an FIR of the incident at Makli police station. DSP Makli Nooruddin Sanjrani on the following day informed the complainant about the arrest of dacoits, asking him to come for identification. Sarfaraz and his friend Mohammad Arif went to the police station but never returned, the counsel said.
According to the prosecution, an FIR about their disappearance was lodged at Al-Falah police station in Karachi on Oct 18, 2008.
The counsel said Arif reached home the following day and disclosed that Sarfaraz was detained by the law-enforcement agencies. He prayed to the court to direct the respondents to trace the whereabouts of the petitioner’s son.—PPI
