HYDERABAD, Jan 18: The Sindh Chamber of Agriculture has said that wheat crop in southern Sindh will be in the market by the middle of February.

It urged the government to set up procurement centers before Feb 15 for the purchase of 50 per cent of the total produce at the government-rate of Rs925 per 40kg.

A meeting of the chamber was held here on Sunday with Mir Murad Ali Khan Talpur in the chair. The meeting discussed the problems being faced by the farmers.

It said that it was time for the government to set up wheat procurement centers. The meeting demanded that all canals, channels and waterways should be cleared of silt to ensure water supply to the tail-end growers.

It appealed to the government to prevail upon the sugar mills owners to clear the outstanding dues of cane growers.

It said that the government should take steps to check black marketing of urea fertilizers and to ensure its availability at Rs670 per bag.

Mohammad Anwar Bachani, Sain Bux Rind, Mohammad Khan Sarejo, Fazal Qadir Memon and others attended the meeting.
