BANNU, Jan 16: Security forces on Friday detonated two bombs in controlled explosions on Dera-Bannu Road, officials and residents said.

They said that a toll tax contractor informed the police about a suspected polythene bag lying near the toll tax post on the road with wires sticking out.

The police and army personnel reached the place, blocked the road from both sides and vacated the area. Later, they detonated the bomb by firing at it.

The police and army also received information about a suspected device lying in a pressure cooker near Hussainabad locality, also on the Dera-Bannu road.

The personnel blocked the road and fired at the pressure cooker, which exploded but caused no damage. The device was stated to be a remote-controlled bomb.
