Six family Members suffer burns

LAHORE, Jan 13: Six members of a family suffered burns in a house fire near Taj Park in Sanda on Tuesday.

The victims were shifted to burn unit of the Mayo Hospital.

Edhi spokesman Muhammad Asif told Dawn that the victims were identified as Nida, 2, Zainab, 3, Horia, 5, Sobia, 35, Seher, 30 and Sana, 22.

He said Sobia was stated to be in a critical condition.

He said the cause of the blaze was said to be a gas leakage in the kitchen.

He said according to their investigation one of the family members lit a match when the gas had already leaked from pipe of the kitchen.

Sanda SHO Javed Virk, however, claimed that two women suffered minor burns and no major loss occurred in the fire which broke out due to a gas leakage, which was controlled by the Rescue 1122.

In another incident, a fire broke out in a shop situated at the third floor of Osama Centre on Hall Road. The cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained.

SUSPENDED: The Badami Bagh station house officer has been suspended for delaying registration of a rape case.

According to a police spokesman, SSP (operations) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed has ordered suspension of inspector Tahir Zainul Abideen and stern departmental action against him in the light of an inquiry held by city division SP Rana Abul Jabbar.

Muhammad Saeed of Datanagar had complained to the police that the SHO did not register a case against the accused who had raped his daughter.
