KARACHI, Jan 13: Educationists were briefed about a new programme designed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations for students of the primary level during an introductory seminar held on Tuesday, says a press release.

The seminar introduced to local schools the Cambridge International Primary Programme which, the organisers said, was designed to smoothen the transition for students from the primary level to the secondary level, where the Cambridge system was already in vogue in many schools of Pakistan.

This was the second seminar of the series in the country.

According to the press release, the programme gives schools a framework to develop mathematics, English and science skills and knowledge in young children.

It also provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning, and allows teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress.

The programme is designed to be flexible so that international schools can choose to adopt it as their central primary programme, or run it alongside the national curriculum, adds the press release.
